Welcome to the Web site of the Guildford Area of the Royal School of Church Music.
The RSCM is an educational charity dedicated to raising standards and promoting music in every style of Christian worship and every denomination.
Since 1927 the RSCM has grown into an organisation of some 9,000 members and affiliates worldwide, who are offered unique support and guidance through local and national events and publications.
Members are drawn from different denominations, they worship in different ways, they enjoy different musical styles, but what they have in common is the belief that good music, used effectively, greatly enriches Christian worship.
At the local level we promote a programme of educational events for organists, choir trainers and singers over a wide range of ability and experience. These are all delivered in a friendly manner by highly experienced and approachable tutors.

We usually host an annual 'Come and Sing' event which, like all our events, is open to everybody.
Our Dean's and Bishop's Chorister Awards Scheme which is open to singers of all ages and every denominational affiliation, has been running since 1987, and through this scheme hundreds of local choristers have received recognition of their talent and commitment.
A survey of music resources of the Anglican churches in the Diocese of Guildford was undertaken in May 2009 and is available in two pdf files: Report to the Guildford Area and Survey Results and Summary.
The RSCM have recently appointed Frances Novillo as the RSCM's Regional Music Adviser covering this Area. Frances is available to provide advice to members of affiliate churches and choirs and to visit you to provide tailor-made training, support and encouragement.
